A family-owned business, Highland Ventures operates in the real estate and foodservice industries, and continues to grow and add new business ventures. Highland Ventures, under the Legacy Commercial Properties brand, owns over 700 commercial properties primarily in the retail and office asset classes. With acquisitions, internal leasing, property management, and construction & development functions, Highland Ventures is focused on strategically growing its commercial real estate properties, specifically in the retail sector.


Role Summary

As VP of Commercial Real Estate, you will be responsible for managing the company's real estate team including the Construction, Property Management, Leasing, and Acquisitions teams and ensuring that our properties and growth are aligned with the company’s strategic goals. Reporting to the CEO, this senior leadership position requires a proven track record in managing real estate teams and the ability to drive team efficiency in order to meet company goals while also maintaining a positive workplace environment.


Responsibilities include:

Construction & Development:

  • Structure retail development deals with the Director of Construction 
  • Assist in site plan refinement, early stage site viability, and preconstruction diligence 
  • Ensure timeline and budget are clear for ground-up builds and remodels 

Acquisitions:

  • Continue to refine the real estate acquisition strategy 
  • Manage a team to create a sustainable underwriting and due diligence process 
  • Create and maintain relationships with brokers, vendors, and other associates within the commercial real estate retail business
  • Negotiate new deals and present to the executive team for deal approval 

Leasing:

  • Continue to train internal leasing agents to improve lease structuring and deal making ability
  • Network within the retail space to develop and deepen tenant relationships 
  • Set annual goals and competitions within the leasing department
  • Create efficient and cost-effective marketing strategies for the retail portfolio 

Property Management:

  • Focus on cost saving initiatives in the field and at the corporate office
  • Create and review annual budget with the Director of Property Management 
  • Assist in setting property management goals within A/R, budget variance, site visit frequency, and other KPI’s


Qualifications

  • 15+ years experience within real estate primarily with retail properties
  • 10+ years in a management role
  • Undergraduate Degree, preferably in a related field
  • Experience with cross-functional and direct coordination of teams
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills


Position type and expected hours of work 

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday 9:00 - 6:00.  The home office is located in Brentwood, TN and team members are required to work in the office 5 days per week.


Travel 

Must be willing and able to travel up to 20% of the time
